Rebuilding 1300 East with Safety in Mind
Horrocks provided public engagement services throughout the environmental, design, and construction phases of Salt Lake City’s 1300 East transportation project. These updates provided multimodal safety improvements along a critical corridor in Sugar House and Millcreek.
With residents, businesses, commuters, pedestrians, and bicyclists all relying on the corridor, Horrocks tailored engagement to the needs of a broad spectrum of audiences throughout each project phase, from gathering community input to coordinating directly with residents and businesses through construction.
SERVICES PROVIDED:
Horrocks led strategic communications, public meetings and comment opportunities, stakeholder committee organization and management, digital media outreach, and targeted construction communications to keep stakeholders informed and address project impacts.
During construction, the team worked closely with affected residents, businesses, and property owners through targeted canvassing, individual property owner meetings, and hundreds of stakeholder calls/emails. Customized communications addressing traffic changes, property and business access, nighttime work, road closures, and other construction impacts were developed as work progressed along the corridor.
