Safer Community Connections on Marigold Street
The Ada County Highway District’s Marigold Street Concept Design Study is exploring improvements between Garrett and Glenwood Streets in Garden City. The corridor connects homes, businesses, and the nearby Greenbelt and serves drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists. Horrocks is leading public engagement for the study.
Potential improvements include restriping the road to widen bicycle lanes, quick-build traffic-calming and speed-management treatments, and future improvements at key intersections. Horrocks is helping the project team understand community priorities and concerns related to safety, access, cut-through traffic, and proposed changes to the roadway.
SERVICES PROVIDED:
Horrocks developed a public involvement strategy focused on clear, accessible communication and meaningful opportunities for community input. Services included stakeholder research, contact list development, coordination with neighborhood associations and corridor businesses, interviews with key community representatives, and planning for an in-person public meeting with an online participation option.
The team also supported project branding, key message development, meeting materials and graphics creation, and comment opportunities. Horrocks documented stakeholder interactions and public comments in a communication database to prepare a meeting summary and infographic highlighting key feedback themes.
